Welcome to our website       (Past President's Report)

The creation of the Austin-Healey Owners Club in 1969 was the result of three Austin-Healey owners who had enthusiastically watched the racing feats of Ross Bond in his legendary Austin-Healey deciding it was time a Club was formed in New South Wales. The first meeting was held in rooms at BMC, Zetland on 9 March, 1969.  Cards were printed and placed on Austin-Healeys to advise owners of the formation of the Club.  Clearly there were other owners who had the same idea regarding Club formation and membership numbers soon increased.  Ross Bond is still Club Patron and several of those original members are still actively involved in the Club.

Since those early days the Austin-Healey Owners Club has continued to evolve.  There are still members who crave the thrill of competing in competition events, while others prefer the relaxed sensation of the social scene.    In the past we have held our Concours at various locations, and more recently we have held  the Concours in conjunction with the All British Display at the Kings School, North Parramatta.  We are an enthusiastic and friendly Club with a passion for what we unashamedly believe are the best looking British sports cars!  For information regarding future events, have a look at 'Social Scene'.

If you'd like to find out more about the Club, are interested in buying an Austin-Healey or if we can be of further assistance, why not come along to our monthly meeting at Rydalmere Bowling Club, Park Road, Rydalmere on the second Wednesday of each month.  Or you can contact us at: austinhealeynsw@ozemail.com.au

Austin Healey Owners Club - Website Design

Some 6-7 years ago the during an AHOC general meeting it was suggested that we should move with the times and set up our own website. The decision was made to take this plunge and establish our Internet presence, so Michelle, who was developing and hosting websites for other customers, was asked to provide advice and assistance.

We needed a site that allowed the Club to promote the marque, provide information to Members who are not able to attend regular meetings or events, and which enabled us to retain our ?identity? and colour structure.

Michelle, with some suggestions and guidelines, set about drafting some ideas which were reviewed by the Committee and presented to the Members. It was agreed to proceed.

Michelle established and commenced hosting the club's website. It was the first website that ?popped up? when anyone Googled ?Austin Healey? and remained so for at least 2 years.

The site sparked interest from both ?Big Healey? and  Sprite fans and through the email address we were getting  ?hits? daily from people interested in our club and the marque.

Michelle was always willing to look at opportunities for us to enhance the site and continued giving expert advice and assistance.

Over the years as Michelle's cancer impacted her personally and her availability to host the website the Committee realised that we needed to manage the site ourselves to enable Michelle to focus on her health. Michelle's outstanding work provided to the Club with a solid basis for our next ?release?.

The Club and especially those members of the Committee who worked so closely with her at that time would like to express our thanks to Michelle for the time spent and her groundwork that helped the Club to establish itself on the Internet.

Working with Michelle was always fun though it was sometimes challenging to restrain her enthusiasm when thinking of ways to enhance our presence.

Thank you, Michelle.
