Welcome to our website

The creation of the Austin-Healey Owners Club in 1969 was the result of three Austin-Healey owners who had enthusiastically watched the racing feats of Ross Bond in his legendary Austin-Healey deciding it was time a Club was formed in New South Wales. The first meeting was held in rooms at BMC, Zetland on 9 March, 1969.  Cards were printed and placed on Austin-Healeys to advise owners of the formation of the Club.  Clearly there were other owners who had the same idea regarding Club formation and Membership numbers soon increased.  Ross Bond is still Club Patron and several of those original Members are still actively involved in the Club. Since those early days the Austin-Healey Owners Club has continued to evolve.  There are still Members who crave the thrill of competing in competition events, while others prefer the relaxed sensation of the social scene.    In the past we have held our Concours at various locations, and more recently we have held  the Concours in conjunction with the All British Display at the Kings School, North Parramatta.  We are an enthusiastic and friendly Club with a passion for what we unashamedly believe are the best looking British sports cars!  For information regarding future events, have a look at Social Scene sub-tab on the page titled " Coming Events "

If you'd like to find out more about the Club, are interested in buying an Austin-Healey or if we can be of further assistance, why not come along to our monthly meeting at Rydalmere Bowling Club, Park Road, Rydalmere on the second Wednesday of each month.  Or you can CONTACT US at: austinhealeynsw@ozemail.com.au

President's Report: November 2016 Message
Please don’t forget that the next meeting of the Austin-Healey Owners Club is the Annual General Meeting and we need members to get in there to ensure that our committee is complete and your club not only survives, but thrives.

As mentioned last month, some of our long serving committee members are stepping down and we need to fill these vital positions in the club. If you are able to assist and would like some more info about the roles please talk to either myself or one of the committee members.
For our last committee meeting we experimented with using the latest technology and got together around our computers and met over Skype. Many of us were virgin Skype users so took a little time to get our act together but on the whole I think it was successful and hopefully will offer an alternative to those members that want to get involved in the club without having another night out every month
At the last meeting we welcomed our latest member Lehman Bloom, who joined the club under a false pretext by his dad Phillip as a prerequisite to be able to drive dad’s Silverstone bodied Healey without knowing that he was about to be the proud owner of a BJ8. It was also good to see Neil Janes who became a member some months ago but due to other commitments has been unable to get to a meeting and is starting to get to the pointy end of owning a Colin Rule restored BJ8. Also great to see Alan and Jackie Loudfoot at the meeting after a few months and Ken Offord back after a few years.

As I look back over the last 12 months it is great to observe that we are seeing new owners joining our
club and the numbers attending the general meetings continue to grow. Forty five attended our last meeting and, from memory, seven of them brought their Austin-Healeys which I guess is an indication that the weather is starting to get warmer. Recently I met an owner of a 1937 Wolseley Super Six limousine who queried the validity of my statement that our club continues to grow because they stopped making Austin Healeys 50 years ago. So I guess we defy logic.
Elsewhere in this newsletter you will find details of the Concours on Sunday 13 November at the Gosford Classic Car Museum and I’m hoping to see as many of you there as are able to make it and for those that are on or near the Central Coast on Saturday 12 November there is a barbeque at the Rules’ residence. You just need to bring drinks but let us know that you are coming so that we can cater.

Our December meeting will be our Christmas Party at the bowling club in the green room which is where we used to hold our meetings. If you can only make it to one meeting each year make it this one but again we need to know so that we can make sure there is sufficient food. Cost is $10 for members and $30 for guests. Please email me (jpjimbeau@gmail. com) if you are not at the November
meeting to record your intention.

Dedication - 10th anniversary of our website

This year 2014/5, is the 10th anniversary of the establishment of our Club's website and it is fitting that we make this dedication to those people who helped develop the initial site and the ongoing maintenance and support of the site.

As the Club Webmaster I would like to acknowledge the process from the beginning with Michelle Bancroft her design and hosting that started this so long ago. Michelle was extremely talented in designing our first flurry into website "status" and she did an outstanding job and  continued to do so hosting the site until we needed to move onto self management following Michelle's illness. It was upsetting when Michelle passed away that I did not personally get to acknowledge her efforts and support with the website and the first redesigns that she undertook prior to us moving to Havealook.
Michelle wherever you are my sincere Thanks. Pat and Terry my appreciation.

With the move to Havealook we have had an opportunity to "self manage" our needs and as technology has changed. We also needed to change, especially how to present the website as simple to see/read, meet our Member's needs of ease of access, location of major items and maintain the Healey focus as we now have  Members who may not own a "Big Healey" and have new Associate Members who own other vehicles.

This recent redesign, was undertaken with Havealook and the help of our Membership Secretary Ms Christine Lyttle.  My thanks for her valuable  input and advice, I personally have enjoyed this redesign and working with Christine, to present the Club into the newer media.

I hope that you enjoy the website and find it useful and enjoyable. If you have any comments or your input kindly feel free to submit your feedback on the CONTACT US page

Thank you all for your support
